I stood 10 ft. from a grizz yesterday
I know it has nothing to do with BP but yesterday at a sportmans show in suffren n.y. I stood about 10ft. from a 3 year brown bear his weight around 1,000lbs and he must of stood 8ft tall.I think the huge cage did keep him from every bit of 10ft without any problems.
The handler who raised it from a cub (8 weeks old) and did get into the cage ruff housing with him a little.
I seen the bear go threw raw chicken and carrots like butter
The bear was or made the show for me and my grandson who wanted to take him home as a pet.

I watched a TV show with Doug and Lynne Seus and a Grizzly bear named Bart and Tank. Those bear were really something to see as they stood next to Doug Seus. That animal was huge. I know that the Seus family trust their bear, or they would not interact with them in the manner they do, but any animal like that is still wild. He might act like a little puppy 99% of the time, but that 1% when he does not, will not be pretty. I'm glad to hear you had some bars between you and that animal.
My sister who lives in Alaska in the mountains sent me a picture she took while they were hiking. It was with a telephoto digital 12X zoom lens picture of a lonegrizzly bearthey saw, while out hiking. She said, they immediately began leaving the area as quiet as they could. They are an impressive animal for sure.

Lonewolf, where in Suffern do you live? Back in the 70's I used to live there in an apartment complex called Bonaire. I17 => Airmount Rd => Airmount ave => Campbell ave.
Don't know if any of that sounds familiar.
