where does all this fouling come from
man, i shot my rifle (triumph) 3 times yesterday while hunting, swabing between shoots, and i'm giving it a good cleaningtoday to but it away for the season. (ended my season shoot 2 does yesterday). I'm using t/c foaming bore cleaner and knight solvent, letting it soak and using a brush and patches and the patches are coming out blacker then poop after a few hours of cleaning. where does it come from??? why is this still happening???

If you are using a bronze bore brush you will continue to get black patches. The brush rubbing the bore metal will produce a black residue.
I do not even use the brush - a lot of peole do and it does work but for me it usually is not necessary. After you have completed using the brush then complet your cleaning without the brush - eventually you will get all the black - then grey material out.
Which powder are you using? if you are using a Pyro it will take a little more to get it out...
What I normally do is start with straight regualr windex patches. Usually take about 3-4 patches and then they come out fairly clean. Then apply bore solvent with a bore mop, let it sit then go back with windex patches. I also use a lot of water but it really is not necessary it is just a security blanket for me. After the last round of windex patches, clean dry patches to dry the barrel, When i am sure it is clean apply the lubricant of your choice. I use Slip 2000 but there a ton of good ones out there.
Hope this helps a bit...

windex patches work good to get the fouling out. A good kitchen degreaser also works great.
I usually take the kitchen degreaser and run patches down the bore until its clean, once it is, use my bore brush with about a dozen strokes, switch back to patches and run them until its clean and then use a couple windex patches and im done.

One thing most folks don't realize...When you shoot real BP, about 40% of the charge is left in the bore as fouling...
The easiest way (for me) to remove much of this is simply to plug the touch hole, nipple, whatever and pour cleaning solution, alcohol, water, whatever is handy or you prefer down the barrel and pour most of this fouling out...

When I got my new omega the first few cleanings I got black back I think it is residue of the manufacturung process I used JB Bore cleaner and than it stopped also was easier to ;oad as it polished out rough spots in the bore.

I shot my new muzzleloader last weekend at least 10 times with T-7, swabbing after each shot. I used hot soapy water and a little ammonia to clean the barrel. I ran a brass brush back and forth a couple of times. After that a solvent patch followed by dry patches. I was amazed at how easily it cleaned up.

i still don't get it. how and why does a bronze brush cause black residue to come out on a patch. i scrubbed and scrubbed some more. where does it come from? there can't be anymore powder left in the barrel after all that.

Your bristles are reacting to the bore cleaner you are using, that's the residue you are cleaning out...
With my flinters, I just pour about a half a barrel of solvent, water, whatever...Hold my finger over the bore and turn it over a time or two...Pour out all that gunk and dry and lube, that's it...
