Default Knight Bighorn, Broke trigger!

Spend most of my time in the CB forum, but know you guys have a wealth of good info and knowledge and hope you may be able to help me. I have a Knight Bighorn, about eight years old and I do not use it alot, most of my hunting is done with my CB, but enjoy shooting it and Ohio let us take more does this year. Was able to take a eight point and a BB with the CB and now I have one tag left so I pulled out the ML for a little action. When I was shooting it last week to make sure all was still good with it and the scope I had a trigger issue. Took it apart and the pin that holds what I think is the sear, not sure, but this lever holds the bolt back and it also rest on the trigger shelf, terminology may be wrong, sorry guys. Well it was slid over a little and the lever was off center and not falling right. So I just slid it over and all was well, did not seem sloppy loose but ok. Did about ten more rounds after that and put gun away for the next day hunt. Was at blind and went to pull bolt back and it would not go, gittered it some and finally it came back went to let it down to make sure it was ok and now it was stuck up. So here I sit on opening day with a broke gun, so me and dad just sat together in the blind and I hope to get him on camera getting his deer. Well I took it apart and as I took gun out of the stock the lever I mentioned fell out and the pin that came loose was broke in three pieces. Gun shop guy was out hunting with his ML for rest of week and I was out of luck. Went to Ace Hardware and found a roll pin that seemed to fit nice and snug in there. Here is my question the lever that hinges off of the pin has a bigger hole then the pin. I know it has to be somewhat bigger to move on it, but it seems maybe 20% bigger? Was wandering if there is supposed to be a bushing in this lever? maybe it fell and I did not see it? The trigger seems like it is back to where is was before, nice and crisp, take up just fine, but the slop in the lever has me worried that maybe the lever could shift as I am walking or shoulder gun and then the gun go off if I had the safety off. Are any of you familiar with this lever and pin I mentioned? Sorry I talked to much and any help would be great!

Call Knight and ask them.. it sounds like it might need a new trigger as well, but they will be able to tell you that better. Good luck with your rifle.

Knight has had problems in the past with their trigger's. IMO the problem was created by Knight. Knight could have explained the problem to hunter's, but instead they decided to ignore the problem. The problem is simple.

When you shoot your Knight rifle there is some blowback into the trigger mechanism. This blowback accumulates over a period of time, and wll definitely gum up your trigger. This gumming up makes the trigger impossible to pull back the hammer. IMO this is what created your problem, then the broken pin happened.

The solution(before the pin broke) is simple. When you clean your rifle just take the trigger off the action. Take a can of brake cleaner and thoroughly saturate the entire trigger mechanism. Let it soak for just a bit, then take a can of air and blow out the trigger. This will keep your trigger working just fine.

Send your broken trigger back to Knight, they should make it right. They did for me. Tom.

Thanks for the reply guys. I will probably not be able to send it back since I put a different pin in it and would think they would say that it is now modified and not covered by them. I will have to take it to the shop and have him look at it, a trigger is something I need to have piece of mind with. I know the trigger was not dirty, unless it can get that dirty from just a days shooting. Taking the trigger off and spraying it with a can of bore cleaner is part of the cleaning process when ever the gun gets shot so I know it was not gummed up, that is one thing I liked about the knight was the trigger was out in the open and came off with one Allen bolt. Hopefully the shop can tell me which way to go and I will not have to worry about it.

If you need to buy a new trigger let me know. I have a couple of them. Tom.
