Default Great plains out of a sabot and pyrodex select ??

this is a 2 part thread (got lazy and saving time)

I was looking at the pyrodex select and the RS, both are ffg. so this ??? came to mind.

What is the major differnce between the two, other about $3 to $5?

I picked up some 45 cal 285 gr great plains bullets, place one in a sabot and it fit pretty good. I am going to do a test on them sometime down the road. I figured $5 per 20 what the hell. I am going to take the lube off them. I think I asked about this a few months ago and the place still had 3 boxes in stock.

The difference between RS and Select is the filtering process. Select is run through the filters a few more times to make all the granules more uniform in size. I used to shoot a lot of it, but found no difference in accuracy between the two.

As for putting a .45 caliber conicalinto a sabot I never tried it.

I keep picking them up and putting them back down for no reason, one of this days I well buy some cheap shots. I got a load for this season. The 45 cal great plains I bought just to test and have a little fun with. I am not go and do anything until I get a new Dial Caliper (lost mine in a move) and get the lube off them.

Sounds like you need to run them thru a resize die to get them into a standard sabot. If you want to shoot pure lead in a sabot why don't you have someone make you a mold and just cast your own?
