Default mag express .429 - .430

I was getting ready to go to the range sometime this week, matching my sabots with my bullets. I was about to run out of the mmp green sabots. I saved 7 for late ML. I knew I was running low, went to a local gun shop and picked up some mag express .429 - .430. I opened them up and looked at them, they are longer then the mmps.

I have used the black mag express with a 240 gr xtp. I like how they group.

I am going to do a 5 shot group to see how they do.

a little unrelated request

someone with a good bullistics program give the data for 250 shockwave under 100grs of pyrodex p out of a knight usak. I am a little recoil shy (I do have a recoil pad on the rifle) and little worried about unburned powder.

thanks,

Corey,

I used to hate recoil of ML's.

Just out of curiosity, how far are your normal shot distances?

I have gone all the way down to a 220 grain bullet and 80 grains of 777. My shots are up to 75 yards and this is a great combo for this with very little recoil. I don't think I'd change this year but still something to consider for next year. Good luck, Greg

Corey,

I'm surprised about those Mag Express sabots being longer than the MMP's. I have two bags of the MMP's and they are nearly 1/4" longer than the Hornady .429-.430 sabots. Those Mag Express must stick out of the barrel!
I also have a few 17+ year old Hornady Mag sabots I tried yesterday. They are just slightly shorter but noticeably tighter than the current Hornady greens and did not group as well for me. My GM 1:28 really likes the current Hornady sabot/.429 bullet combo and seems far less particular about what weight bulletI put in it than the sabot length and thickness.

You may want to pick up a box of Hornady saboted bullets, the 44 cal 300's being most common, and try the sabots with some of the bullets you like.

Looking forward to your range report.

I only shot a max of a 100 yards.

that recoil pad I have on my ml, makes it fell like my .22.

I was a little surprised too. right now my scanner is down, when I get it back up. I will post a side by side. in the hornadys, all I can find in those are the SST's, 45 XTP/ sabots and great plains hunters.

I am hoping the weather will be better then it is now, I only have two days aweek I can hit the range. winds are about 30 to 40 mph today. worst north of up.

oh man, just looked at the start date, dec. 15 next week. wind is to bad today. I have this saturday and next monday, missing the opening day, going out of town to do some shopping with/for my wife next saturday. good thing it is 3 weeks
