RE: 300 grain SST good for deer?
This buck staggered about 25 yds after being double lunged by a 300 gr Hornady SST with 100 gr T7 2f from my Omega. Complete pass through and a blood trail a blind man could follow.

My only beef with them was that they were a bear to load. I have some different sabots that Sabotloader sent me to try with them. Hopefully one of them will be the ticket. They were accurate with the supplied sabot but I'm hopeing thatthey can be improved upon with a different sabot both in accuracy and loading ease.

gleason.chapman, I have been shooting right through them with a 250 and 110 gr of 777, two so far this year and I get a bang flop where when I used a 300 gr they usually run at least a 50 or 60 yds. I have been using Gold Dots, all 250gr are not manufactured the same; I have had much better results by saving the 300grs for the game over 500 pounds. I really dont see the point of having to trail them when I can get a bang flop every time with a 200or 250 gr. Lee

Using the 12 ga. shotgun sabots.
I shot a doe at 165 yards last night and it blew the top of the heart off. It ran maybe 30 yards. My brother had similar results with a doe at 80 yards, but their was only the bottom portion of the heart left. Most of the rest was decimated. These bullets do very good internal damage. Blood trail? I didn't pay attention. My deer didn't run out of my view. I simply watched it drop. My brothers was the same way. So obviously they didnt run far enough to worry about a blood trail. These shotgun sabots get my unofficial Juan Valdez seal of approval. I may be using them in my new Optima Pro.
