Default Ballistic Coefficients for Certain Long Range Bullets

A fellow over on the ModernMuzzleloader forum published these BC, which he calculated. Here is his Post. The T-Shock is the Parker Ballistic Extreme (PBE), which a lot of Savage shooters shoot (seems to be XTP, Barnes TMZ, PBE and SW for them).

Another fellow looked up the manufacturer's published BC, it is here. You can use this to calculate MPBR from a ballistic program such as this which is online:

or Point Blank for Windows. Chap Gleason

For example, I am shooting the Parker Ballistic Extreme 275g, at a Muzzle velocity of 2000 FPS using a Savage 10ML and AA 5744. Here is the bullet drop of that load and bullet. So if I sight in 2.5" high a 100 yard, this gives me a 150 zero and 6.4" low at 200 yards.

So my MPBR is about 175 yards with this bullet and load of 44g of 5744. If I go to 4198 and shoot a load at 2500 FPS, I get a bullet drop of only 4.6" at 200 yards, but I pay in recoil, further the 4198 does not ignite as well and you have to LEAN on the load with a real tight sabot to get it to fire. So I will stay with the 5744 and just take < 175 yard shots at elk in 2008, or use my range finder and aim a bit higher Chap Gleason

i have seen only one saboted muzzleloaderbullet that looked like a real rifle bullet; the 200 grain .40 caliber Shockwave. The rest look like pistol bullets whether they are or not.The local China Outlets have run out of them; i am off tomorrow for Bass Pro Shops to buy some.

Will have to look up that BC. When you say "looks like a rifle bullet", do you mean skinny and long like a 30-06 180g, or exactly what does "look like a rifle bullet" mean to you, CF rifle, ML rifle? SabotSloader shoots the .458 Nosler and it is longer than the pistol bullet.

Chap

My thought... the Nosler .458 doesn't have to look like a rifle bullet - it is a real rifle bullet.

What I really like is the length of both the Nosler .451/260 gr. & the Nosler .458/300 - and of course the .451/300 is almost the same length as the .458.
