RE: whats the longest shot youve taken?
My longest drop at the shot muzzleloading deer was taken last year with an RMC flintlock shooting 100 grains of Goex and a Hornady xtp. Shot went down thru the neck and out behind the off shoulder. Never took a step and was dead before it hit the ground. It was around 70 yards from a treestand.
Some of the inline rifles with scopes and high powder charges would be capable of energy and accuracy to yardages that centerfires take them. Most people can't hit well with open sights beyond 125-150 yards even with a rest and wind drift at those ranges is significant andvery difficult to judge.

I have taken 3 long shots with a Muzzle loader all with PRB All with 130 gr RS all with my Hawken 54 caltwo were in the cornfields of ILL and one was in Canada the deer in the corn fields were at 177 and 180 paces the bear in canada was in a wide open swamp and laser rangefinder said 188yds. I normally dont shoot any farther than I have to and the only if its wide open with nothing in the way and no chance of getting closer all three were bang flops. Lee
PS all were open iron sights, when peep sights were not legal for hawken compitition at Friendship I drilled a hole to use like a peep and cut a slot down to it so it wuld be legal then filed the top off till it was dead on at 177 yds for the Hawken match so that gave me a precise aiming point for that range.

With a purcussion cap muzzleloader, I shot a deer at 80yds once but it was down hill. With my inline, I shot two does last year. 1st was at 120 yds. and the other was at 190yds. Wouldn't suggest goin any further.

80 yards + 15 feet. I was using a T/C .54 caliber Renegade with a T/C peep sight. I shot a nice little buck with a roundball. It passed through him and hit a doe standing behind him in the spine. The ball broke the doe's spine and knocked her down as well. So one shot, two deer and about 85 yards give or take total. The powder charge was 80 or 90 grains of Pyrodex RS and a patched .530 roundball.

Almost exactly 200 yards - one attempt at such a shot, one instantly dead doe. Conditions were perfect, I had good positioning, and had practiced out to 220 yards with the rifle and load described in pic -
