Default 2 ? that do not relate to the other, maybe

I been thinking since I bought my USAK of doing an 209 upgrade then I found an odd thing that was put out by knight (a small rifle primer kit). I went on and got and musket nipple for it and save $53. when I went to the range with my bother in law with his cva wolf 209, I noticed that when he shot pyrodex pellets (2), unfired powder flew out the barrel. I had the samething happen when I fired pellets out with musket. Should I put the money into those upgrades? I am looking now into buying another ML next augusta.

Also, I have some 245gr powerbelts I got when I bought with ML, and from what I have read they are under wight for whitetail. I was thinking after hunting season is over to resight my scope for them and use them for varments (mainly groundhogs maybe rabbits). Is that a good Idea or just leave it alone?

Would an upgrade be helpful.. if you are going to shoot pellets I would say it is a must. If you are shooting loose powder then it is not necessary. The #11 cap will work just fine. It has for a hundred years or so. What you were seeing when the Wolf and Your USA was fired was chunks of crud most likely. If it was good powder, it would have been a fireball. Also something to keep in mind. Your USA has a 22" barrel. When you shoot barrels that short, there is a point that no matter how much more powder you add, it will not really increase your velocity. It will make a mess. You can only efficiently burn X grains of powder in a 22" barrel before that projectile leaves the muzzle. After that, even if the charge was twice that.. all you get is a fireball but it does nothing for the velocity of the bullet. Its called diminished returns. It is the point that no matter how much more powder you add, it really does nothing for the velocity. It is often very close to the sweet load of the rifle. Now granted, a little extra powder might give you 5-25 fps more, but that is not worth the powder or the risk to the rifle. Keep your loads around 80-95 grains in that USA and you will be fine. And get a powder measure and use loose powder and #11 caps. Believe me, that combination works.

As for the powerbelts..there are stories of them not getting the job done on deer. There are hundreds more of them killing the deer. I think as mentioned on other posts. Some people I think push them too hard. If that powerbelt will shoot well with 80 grains of powder, there should be no problem, with a well placed shot, to killing a whitetail deer with it. At a buck a throw I sure would not waste them on groundhogs.

I use about 85 grs of pyrodex p, and in a hurry and don't swab between shots, I push 5 shots, 2 pellets, 2 maybe 3 shots then swab. but I got in the swabbing between every shots.

and for the powerbelts, next year I will work a load for those, out of time this year to do that, less then 2 weeks togo

85 grains of Pyrodex P is a very good load. When you push too many shots without swabbing, you're more prone to fliers, but for hunting where you will only need one or two shots, you should be fine.

I have been playing with the idea of buying the tc sure fires and the cheap shots with mag express.

the tc says the cheap shots "all lead bullet that shots like the xtp"

I was figuring sure fires at $6 pre 20 (walmart) and cheap shots at $8 pre 20 (gunshop). work up a varment load for them
