Flintlock rifle?

RE: Flintlock rifle?
Lyman or Blue Ridge are both excellent rifles for the money. I myself would lean more towards the Lyman Great Plains Rifle in a .54 caliber, only because I like the bigger calibers. Just a personal preference. My thoughts are, in a sidelock be it flint or cap, we are not going to be trying to do any fancy 150 yard shooting like the in line people talk about (although I am sure with practice it can be done). So if our shots are close, lets make it count. The .50 and the .54 are fine for anything we care to hunt for the most part. When I got the chance to hunt elk, I felt better with the .54 caliber. (I have a T/C .54 caliber Renegade, and a .50 caliber Traditions Hawkins) Which ever you choose, you are going to have a lot of fun learning the gun and what it can do, not to mention the additional pleasure gotten with a muzzleloader. Good Luck and good shooting.
