Default A powder question

So I was thinking. I always see .45 pellets for sale. I shoot .50 pellets. The .50 do not fit snugly, so heres the question. Wouldn't a .45 pellet work just the same, even if they are the same powder charge? I just sometimes see the .45 pellets marked down and sit and hope that I can find .50 cal and never do. Thanks

There would be slightly more airspace around the pellets and they would not align as well as the 50's but it would probably work. That said, I would definately check with the gun manufacturer before trying it and get their take on it. Better safe than sorry.

I agree with Dave.. my concern would be pressures moving past the pellets. I have heard of people shooting .54 caliber pellets (60 grain) in .50 caliber rifles.. but have personally never done it myself. Only read about it.

As for the .45 caliber pellet in a .50 caliber I would forget it. Just buy some nice little .45 caliber and use them pellets for long range and plinking or what ever you like. You can never have enough guns.
