Opinion Wt.Mt.carbine or New Englander.50
What's your opinion reguarding TC New Englander .50 as opposed to a .50 in a Wt.Mt. carbine.Accuracy wise conicles/ball?I was told Hawken barrels will fit the Wt.Mt. carbine.Rifling twists should be 1-48" ?It's for my 14 year old son.Thanx Harold

Both of them are going to be good shooters. The White Mountain Carbine will shoot conicals the best of the two. Also you can get a Green Mountain Drop in barrel for it. Being a short rifle, it might be easier for a 14 year old to handle. The New Englander will be a good conical and roundball shooter. They are not a heavy rifle, unless they have a wood stock. They are a nice simple meat and potatoes rifle. And it is a rifle that will last him the rest of his life. Both would be good rifles.

I second what Cayugad says! I can't speak on the Wht Mntn, but I can tell you I've hunted with the same New Englndr for a couple decades and I've killed many, many deer with it. It's a heck of a gun and worth more than you'll pay for it.
