RE: Good Deer Load?
Ihave been shootingthe T/C shock wave's. I also shot a box ofHornady'swhich performed just as well as the shock wave. I have box 250 gr of traditions T-shock sabot's that a friend gave me. I'll shoot those next time I go to the range.

With the right placement of your shot, even the little 177 grain .50 caliber roundball will kill animals. Its all a matter of putting a hole through the right thing. When you start shooting the sabots like you have mentioned, you're getting a good fps and good energy. Put that all in the vital organs and you better own a freezer.

Try getting some Slick 50 One grease, most auto supplies have it. I used to use anti seize but I still had breach plugs come out hard. Since I started usung the Slick 50 I have NEVER had a tight breach plug and I shoot 120 grs of 777. I have shot as many as 40 times and the plug still came out easily. It is also cheap, the tube you get will last you 2 lifetimes.

The Hornady SST and the T/C Shockwaves are the same bullet, Hornady makes both...I also shoot them, over 90grs of Pyrodex R-S in my Knight Disc...I have killed 7-8 with this combo and my hunting buddies have killed another 5-6...Never had a problem, usually get an exit, hard enough for shoulder blade shots...

Whitetail loads... I use 100/110 grains of T7-2f depending on which rifle I am shooting and I use a couple of different bullets...
For elk - I use a 300 grain Nosler Partition
for deer - I use a 260 grain Nosler partition
but today these bullets are way to expensive for my blood so when I run out of Noslers - I will switch to Speer 300 grain Bonded Gold Dots... a poorman's Nosler... I shoot them now at a paper and rocks they have a high BC and are really accurate...
Check these strings out...

Underclocked explained my breech plug operation correctly. I do not use grease just tape and I run the plug up snug... never had a problem if I get the tape on correctly especially over the nose.... this diagram might explain what I am attempting..

The 300's will have more knockdown power, which is always welcome, and plenty of range for that gun. Try around110grains of Pyrodex and that gun will come around in no time. Try the XTP Mag bullets. They're the best you can get.
You HAVE TO use some anti seize grease on the brecch plug. I use the TC stuff and it works great. I shoot fifty times and it always comes out easily. Just tighten the BP until you feel a little resistance and then stop. You won't have any more problems with it.
One great target I use now is an ordianary paper plate with a big black dot in the middle. I can get my best groups using it and it's super easy to spot with open sights.
Hope I helped. Best of luck and have fun!
