I think Cayugad probably has the problem pin pointed for you. If you were swabbing with anything that was wet you are probably swamping your nipple even if you dry swab. If possible use only a slightly damp patch followed with the dry patch, make sure the bolt or hammer is open away from the nipple. With the dry patch & withthe last couple of strokes push it down in a hurry and listen to the air to rush out of the nipple it will tell you if it is dry or wet air....
When I am shooting at the range or my case a rock pit I prepare patches before I go. I use regular old windex with ammonia (ammonia evaps in a hurry although ther is only a tiny bit of it). I put a bunch of patches in a flat container, pour windex in tosaturate the patches then with my thumbs push as much of the windex out as I can, draining the excess off. Get them as dry asyou can with the tumb pressure then seal the works up and head off shooting...
In warmer weather the regular #11's should work just fine - you really need the mag caps when it get real cold to insure proper ignition.
That delayed fire is really usually a sign of a partially plugged nipple or damp powder right a the base of the nipple.
It really should go trigger break - BOOM no delay....
Hey! good luck have fun and be safe....

You pull the trigger and actually see the hammer fall and that little charge just before the powder goes off, sort of a klik-CLICK-BOOM. I got a real kick out of it.

Grizzley hackle36 -
I was having probems with caps going off exactly as you describe. I took to wiping the nipple with same damp patch used to swab between shots as part of the between shots ritual. No more cap misfires. Seems the residue from a cap or two was enough to prevent the next cap from fully seating by finger pressure alone.
