Default Long gun Switch a-roo

Yal know I have been shooting a Renegade the last week or so since I got the e-bay barrel. Well, I really like shooting that Renegade stock and Yeoman pointed out the recoil impact. Well neither of the two really bother me recoil wise but the shoulder bruise after shootin the Hawkin is definitely there - so after contemplating some thoughts generated by Yeoman I decide to make the switch...

In the top pick you see the GM SS barrel installed in the Hawken stock and the Renegadeunder it has the Hawken barrel in it that came in the Hawken stock, both barrels being 50 cal. The original Hawken barrel has been shot a total of 23 times and is excellent shape, I kinda have been saving it - do not ask me why.... Well 2+2='s 4 - so I made the switc back the other way - bottom picture... I took the fast lock from the Hawhen and the SS barrel and dropped them into the Renegade... put the original Hawken back together.

With this setup I can shoot the Renegade SS barrel all day... I am proud of myself for thinking this all out... with Yeoman's help

I have a 50 cal Hawken also in a FL. I like the looks however of the Renegade. I have been watching ebay for one (a flinter). Your twins look beautiful! I enjoy hearing about em growing up/changing. Chap

Oh Man, Cascadedad, I'm a little worried for you now. This change just might just give him the courage to put lead down that barrel. The odds on my blog site have really had a swing since these photos were posted. Seems the betting public is of the opinion that Sabotloader is pulling out all the stops!

Current odds, with 10 hours to go, stand rock solid at 1:1. My money's on.....the winner

Don't forget to check the hinges on that truck door before washing, I mean, before using it.

very nice looking rifles. I like my Hawkins as well as my Renegades, but actually see little difference in lock time or anything else.

If I get a chance later in the morning I'll try to get some pictures and show you what I mean. The lock with the verticle hammer spur has a much shorter throw than the older lock. I have three of them, one in two of three Renegades now and I put one in my Lyman Trade Rifle also. Might even be able to get a picture of the part in the lock mechanism that maes the difference...

And I agree I sure like looking at them...

I have one Renegade with a real short throw. In fact when I first bought the rifle, I tried the hammer and was worried it would not work. Well I was wrong, it works fine. I was shooting it yesterday actually and it worked flawless. But on half cock the hammer is just barely off the cap. So I carry that one with a tire valve stem over over the cap just to be safe.

Also did something happen to No Excuses Concials web site? I tried going to it (it on AOL) and it could no longer bring it up. Then I tried to Google it, and still could not find it. You got a phone number for Dave? I guess I have to call in an order to him.

Thanks for the phone number. On a different site someone asked me where his web page was located and when I went to get them the address, it would not come up at all. And I misplaced his card so I did not even have his phone number.

As for Dan, I think with that disc in his back out, he will be a long time healing. I had a friend with that same thing, and they were not sure he would even walk. So I hope Dan takes it easy, heals, and then worries about bullets. Besides, I got my 500 of them two weeks before he went down...
