Slugging the barrel size???
I want to shoot some conicals out of my Knight BK 92 and my Rem 700 ML's. I notice that u need to slug your barrel to be sure u order the correct size. What and how do u do that? I plan on ordering some "No Excuses" bullets once I figure out the correct size. Is there a known barrel size for the Knights and Rem 700 ML's.

RE: Slugging the barrel size???
I just flattened a roundball slightly in my vise and drove it through the bore-don't try to drive it through the breech plug threads-then go the other way withthe ramrod as far as you can. With the muzzle pointingdown drop the rod down from 8 inches or so above the ball until it comes out the muzzle end. High spots are groove dia.,lows are bore size.

I hate the idea of that big of a chunk of lead, but, if you are shooting lead and no copper you do need to go to heavier bullet. The 50 cal/460's give a BC @ .200 and above and when I run them through the calculator they really do fly fairly well. When you go up to 50 caland MV of 1500 fps to get the BC up you are going to have to go up in weight.
Another reason, if I have to use an all lead bullet as the state has mandated,I want a single bullet to shoot both deer and elk with up to 150 yards. If we get a ML season up here in northern Idaho it might only be a 7 day season so I will only be using the lead conical for a short time.
I have shot both Dave Steven's - 50/460NE's and Dans 50/460Nex Bull Shops and they really do shoot well and I am not a fan of the PowerBelts.

Yes, PowerBelts are legal, but sabertooth are not - can not have any copper - must be all lead.... Trad's do not like copper.... even though Hells Canyon here in Idaho is full of copper....
Dan's Bull Shops are $20 for 100 and Dave's No Excuses are $20 for 50...
