Help out a Newbie
I want to start muzzleloading. I have been bowhunting and shotgun hunting for 4 yrs now. The problem is that I do not know anything about it. Whats the recommended caliber? Can you get a good used gun w/ a scope for under $350? A rundown of the basics to get me started would be appreciated. Thanks.

recommended caliber in my opinion is the .50 caliber. As for the rifle and scope, a lot depends on what State laws apply to you. After that, there are a lot of different rifles out there. Also check you local Wal Mart.. many of them are putting rifles on sale right now. Watch for other places to start dumping stock after Christmas...
Is there any kind of rifle that appeals to you? How far do you think you will need to shoot?

here is a good place to start looking for a muzzleloader. Right now the winchester apex is on sale and it is a steal. http://cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/index/index-display.jsp?id=cat20815&navAction=jump&nav Count=1&parentId=cat20712&parentType=categ ory&cmCat=MainCatcat20712
