Default CVA Optima 209

I just bought a CVA Optima 209 (black stock/nickel barrel), I sighted in at 100 yds with 1.5 in. group. Very solid gun and accurate, I used 2 triple 7 pellets with 250 shockwave. My first deer hunt with it last night and dropped a large doe at 100yds or so. I love this gun, does anyone else have any opinions. I bought it at cabellas 269.00 with scope and starter kit.

I have the same one but find it too heavy for our style of hunting which involves alot of deer dives in deep snow. Great shooter though.

I've got the CVA Optima too. Black on Blue. I've also got an Encore, so I have a tendancy to compare the two.

The Optima trigger is not as crisp as my Encore, and I am trying to get the plastic sights replaced now. I had my gun slide off a stump, and the plastic sight ramp broke, but I was able to get it back together to finish the hunt.

On the plus side, the Optima is lighter and shorter to carry, and of course cost a bunch less than my Encore. I especially like being able to clean the gun with the only dissassemble being removing the plug. No stock removal etc.

That said, I removed that funny primer lift from my Encore, and now have the same cleaning without disassembly in the Encore.

I paid less, but that was a couple years ago. I like the Optima, although I do feel the Encore is a higher quality gun - at a much higher price.

But then again, I can't think of many guns I didn't like either....

Sounds like a sweet gun. I don't like the way it feels though--or looks. That's just me but it still must be pretty nice.

I had a freind whos father passed away and he had 2 of them unfired. I ended up getting both of them for $300. My other friend and I each paid $150. He got the .50 cal and I got the .45 cal. We then sent them to Duracoat and had them dipped. Heres a pic of mine.

I bought one last year , new from my local gun shop, and got the nickel / camo in .45 cal.. I use 90 gr. of 777 loose powder , over a 175 gr. powerbelt. It is a great gun and shoots good too.

BTW - I paid 180.00 for it new.

I LOVE this gun! Took my 1st buck ever (spike) w it, and a doe. Love the action and everything. Great gun.

Oh yeah, the Nikon Pro Staff scope is nice too!

(Thanks again daddy)
