Default .015 Pillowtick vs .018

How much harder will .018 load than .015 with a Hornady .530RB in a TC Renegade? I am thinking about using strips of pillowtick but I can only find .018. I don't want to get a lot of pillowtick and find out I do not like it.

If this material is from Wal Mart... I use it all the time., They load hard at first but once you get them moving, they slide right down, and the accuracy is excellent.

That must be why I couldn't tell them apart (thickness).

Sharpshooter, the pillowtick at Walmart is cheap. I think I paid $1.80 for 1/2 yard. I'd bet they'd sell you a 1/4 yard ($.90)or even an 1/8 yard ($.45) 4.5 " X 36"which is enough for 3 strips. A person should get over 30 patches per strip. I've been through a box and a halfof .490 balls sinceI got that last 1/2 yardand I still have alot left.

as CAYUGAD said, wal-mart has 3 colors, red/br/blue.

all are .018

i bought RED because everyone buys blue ,so i can pick my patchs off ground easy as its red,not blue.

make sure you wash the pt before using to get sizing out of it.

It was stated on another forum that the blue tick is for Democrats and red for Republicans. If that's true, blue will shoot to the left and red to the right.

One other point Sharp...If you use a short starter, once the ball is started the lead has compressed so it gets easier to push down the barrel...

I use .018 in my .54 for the first shot down a clean barrel and .015 if I need to shoot again without cleaning...

I buy the Red...

I usepillow ticking from walmart but have never bothered to mike it. If a short starter has to be used then it is tight enough for good accuracy. One thing I do when hunting is to load as usual with pillow ticking. However, I load my speed loaders with .10 pre-cut pre-lubed commercial patches. This allows for easy and quick reloading in a dirty barrel. Last year I shot two deer within about 3 minutes. The doe that I shot was being followed by an 8 point buck.
