Default .25 ACP Conversion for Encore

Is anyone shooting the .25 ACP conversion for the Encorewith CCI 400 small rifile primers yet? How do you like it? Any problems?

I just got mine in today and can't make up my mind between the 209 or .25 ACP primers?

It's supposed to be really clean.

I'm having problems with hangfires after about 3-5 shots.
I'm thinking it is the plug getting fouled.
Any suggestions?

I have the 209 adapters they work just fine in both my 209x50 Omega and 209x45 Encore . They do burn cleaner and reduce the crud ring . In fact Cabela's has the 209 adapters . In reading your other post stay away from bore cleaners between shoots , I use Windex multi-task cleaner with vinegar it's the clear one . Just some on a patch then 2 dry ones . also find sometime to clean the hole in the breach plug . After all the first shoot is the one that counts. Chaz3815

I shoot the Variflame set up with CCI 400 small rifle primers and my encore is pretty accurate with them. Cabelas has the Variflame set up for around $24. Primmers are like 2-3 per $100. I will say that with Pyrodex, everything gets pretty dirty but it's manageable. I shot 25 times without cleaning the breech plug using the Variflame and never once had a missfire. Definately reduces or almost eliminates any crud ring with 777. I don't think I have had the pleasure of one yet. Lucky I guess, I can get 3 shots in a row with 100 gr. loads. The 25 ACP is the same general principle as the Variflame, just a larger holder for the primer. Both work equally well. I was sceptical at first but, I'm sold on them. Either way I don't think you will go wrong.

OK...the 25ACP is a conversion breech plug. Instead of shooting a 209 primer you shoot a small rifle primer out of 25ACP brass. The breechplug has been milled as a custom deal throughPrecision Bulletsto accept the 25 ACP brass.
