Sheath!!??
Iwas doing a bit of shooting and noticed that my particular gun will put the first shot right in the group when I use Sheath as a barrel protector. It actually shoots more accurate than with a clean barrel so I field cleaned it real good and it shoots a bit high out of the group with the first shot usually about 4 inches. I am thinking about using Sheath as a sabot lub and wiping the barrel lightly with it when I field clean.
Has any one else experimented with it?Lee

RE: Sheath!!??
I use Sheath all the time. In fact I just killed another can of it today, but have a lot more where that came from. Triple Se7en told me about using sheath well over a year ago, and I have tried a lot of protect lubes, I still go back to Sheath.
I will have to experiment with it when I shoot next. I was told you do not have to swab it out of the barrel prior to loading as it will not effect accuracy. I have never used it is regards to what you describe, but will experiment with it a liitle more next time...
Thanks for the heads up.

Lee,
I have been doing what you propose (I think what you are proposing) for several years. When hunting season starts i shoot the gun, usually 3 times at a target to verify that it shooting where I am aiming, I swab it with windex and put a very light coat of sheath or break free in the barrel and it will stay that way all season. I will not really clean it til the end of the season and on occasion depending on the weather Iwill refresh and keep thatvery light coat of oil in the barrel.
It certainly has worked for me.

However, if it lubricaters as well as it prevents rust & corrosion, I see no reason not to give it a try for this puropse, anyway.....
I sure like it for a bore treatment after cleaning as you don't have to wipe it out of the bore and breech area when you go back to the range next week......

I noticed at Gander Mtn.. they have Sheath.. and they have Barricade... both labels read identical... anyone know if there's any differences?

(Strange that they chose to rename it, since I've been using it as "Sheath" since at least as early as 1963, before it was even put in a spray can.......

Funny part is, depending on what store you buy it at, the name can be effected. I think some suppliers still have good supply of Sheath. That's good because I'd sure hate to change names.....
