Finally got some range time!
Had about 3 hours before the rain hit last weekend. So I took out the Disc Elite 45cal and made some smoke.
Shot off a rickety bench/table at 68yards and turned in 1/2 inch groups with 120grains of Pinnacle 3Fg pushing a PR Bullet QT-195 grainers. Was using the PowerStem breech plug!
Then shot some 36cal round ball(70grains) in a PR 357cal sabot with 150grains of Pinnacle behinde it! Hooooweee! Same groups just 6 inches higher!
Then we got to shoot a cap and ball pistol! 25grains of APP 3Fg and a .454cal round ball. What a hoot! Gotta get me one of these
Finally got to shoot my buddie'sHawkins 50 cal with RoundBall and verying charges, 70-150grains of APP and Pinnacle. Very accurate! This one had to be hand lapped--100 strokes, to restore the rusty bore. And still got 1inch groups and betterat 50 yards with open sights!
It was just great to get out and make smoke!

Sounds like you had a good time and got to play with some round ball in the fast twist. I like to shoot RB in my inline from time to time when I just want to plink. It sure is a cheap way to spend some range time. I usually use a patch though, not a sabot.But, hey,any excuse to go shooting right?
