More Crud Ring Experiment Results
Went to the range again today and used the new breach plug for all the shooting. With the old BP I can shootas many as 10 or moreshots before the fouling makes it tough to load depending on the projectile. I've never had issues with a crud ring. Today I started noticing a crud ring after2 shots and after the 3rd shot it became difficult to load to the previous seating depth. This was while useing 100gr of 777 and a 250SW and a Rem kleanbore primer.
While not conclusive, I think my original suspition that the lower blowback BP may be contributing to the creation of the crud ring may be correct.
Also, the action area was a little cleaner with the new BP but not that much cleaner. I did try something that seems to work though, I used a Q-tip to spread some antiseize in the area between the BP and the bolt. When I cleaned that area after the range session, it cleaned right up and was done in less than 30 seconds. Thats the fastest I've ever been able to clean that area.
