In most situations with CVA inlines, 120 gr. (4-thirty grain pellets) is about maximum for good accuracy @ 100 yards & beyondwith Powerbelts.

I worked long and hard shooting a few hundred shots finding the combo that would work for me and 150gr loads. I bet I have one of about every sabot out there trying. Trying 777, 3F, 2F, pyro, 3f 2f, trying pellets. Tryed different breechplugs, different primers. What I found was 250gr barnes expanders and 130gr 777 2f with a special powerstem breech plug to do it. I am pushing 2000fps with250gr bullet. Itwas fun finding this load.

Good info everyone. Thanks for replying... Seems the consensus is go to the range, blow smoke, and puch paper while experimenting. I'll get it tight yet.

Yea, but my poor chrono didn't like all that shootin. I do realize that load isn't needed for 150 yards kills. But I love to tinker. I have killed alot of deer with just 90gr pyrodex and 240gr xtp and 95gr of goex and roundball.

The 2,000 fps loads become necessary as the range approaches 200 yards. Like you, though,I found that it is sometimes a chore to find a load that can go this fast and still group well. Two of my favorites are 130 grains of Pyrodex pellets or 135 grains of 2F Jim Shockey Gold - behind a 250 gr. T/C Shockwave. Another one that shoots real well is the 50/40 200 gr. Shockwave with 110 gr. of 3F Jim Shockey Gold. Speed with the 200 gr. load is up there around 2400 fps, and I'm getting MOA accuracy out of my Omega. I used to have a 30-40 Krag that was in about the same performance class.

Out to 150 yards, the regular 100 gr. charges with regular bullets work fine - and are a lot easier on both your gun and your shoulder.
