I'll bet a 600 gr. Conical and 120 gr. 777 will sure do a number on the shoulder. Those White Ultra Mags are beautiful pieces of furniture. Have to save up and get one.

He (Doc White)has actually suggested a good load... 120 grains of pyro under a 600 grain conical. He suggested I (sabot loader)might shoot this for a thrill...

I might rate that more then "a thrill." In fact with age comes the ability to decide the difference between thrills and pain. But I have decided that a 600 grain conical and that load needs to be shot. So lets all vote on who should do this.. Underclocked who got us all hooked on these rifles or Sabotloader who was told all about thethrills.

Since I asked this question, it's only fair thatI will remove myself from this "thrill" and I will be waiting on pins and needles to hear how it feels...

As you know, one of the boys over at DWBs has been shooting Bullshop's 620 grainers in his White Lightning. It weighs about 2 pounds less than an Ultra Mag. He said it didn't kick that bad. I shot some of the Bullshop 550 grainers and noticed very little difference in recoil compared to some in the 450 to 500 grain range.

BUT I AINT SHOOTIN' 120 grains behind one of these big slugs unless you've got a charging Cape Buffalo\rhino\elephant scheduled for me! There is enough pain in my world as is.

SL is into recycled milk jug shooting ..... so I guess that leaves you Dave!

Hands Down - I vote for UC... he likes dem big conicals... in the after life I think UC will comeback as a 16" big gun on a battleship.

But you know if you think about it, with backup couldn't you use something like that in Africa or even Alaska - might be something wemight have to keep in mind.
