Default Gold Dot 250's

Hey Mike, You sent me 3 GD 250's and 3 GD 300's. I shoot all 6 of them so I can not reference them anymore. The 300 did not have the hollow point cavity like the 250's did. Do you know if Speer has plans to change the 250's to look like the 300's? Was going to place an order for the 250's but wanted to check first.

How is that Omega doing?

Marty

I was down in Lewiston last night, I was going to go by the Spreer factory last night but did not make it.... so here is what i think I know... I would not count on them changing the 250 a great deal - to fill in that cavity the way the 300 is would really shorten that bullet up - so I do not see it happening...

These are my thoughts on those two bullets - for deer out the 150 yards the 250 will do everything that a normal human would want it to do. If you are a good shot and you understand your rifle and your load extend that to 200+.... yards

The 300 grain bullet would be an awesome bullet for thicker skinned animals and for deer beyond 50 yards and out 200+ yards. I think, for deer, under fifty unless you hit bone the bullet is going to go right on through - the animal will be dead he/she just might not know it for awhile.

just my 2 bits....

I really do like the Omega and I am still learning what it will do... Right now today if I had to go on a hunt that meant something I would still take on of the Remingtons... but I am sure the Omega's stock will rise with me, although after cleaning it last night I really see no advantage to it over the Rem...

Glad to hear the Omega is doing good for you. When it come down to it, they all have to be cleaned. Almost bought an Omega.

With my first round of testing bullets, the biggest will be 265 grains. That's the A-frame, 260 grain Win Platinum Tips, 260 grain Nosler HG, Gold Dot 250 grain, Barnes TMZ 250 grain and the 250 grain Barnes Expanders.

I think the 250 Gold Dot being bonded will be a good one if I can get it to group.

My max shot will be 130-140 yards and that is only at 2 stands and the deer better be standing still. It's a lane about 3-4 feet wide. Of the 11 deer I have killed off ofthis lease, the furthest was maybe 80 yards.

I moved from a 100 grains of T7-2f to a 110 the other on a whem - the group did tighten up - think you need to put a pretty stout load behind them - drive them pretty hard....

For those distances, I really believe the 250 will do everything you need it to with out paying a $ a shot... I am not going to use Noslers this year on deer I am going to use the 250 Speer.

The Noslers and the A-frames do run a $ a shot. You do not have any critters running around on your place to try them on? [8D]

Ya! I do as a matter of fact - the neighbors cat, but I got a feeling that would get me in to much trouble to be worthwhile.....but i bet the 250 would turn that big honke inside out....
