RE: APP vs. Jim Shockey's Gold???
More expensive Usually when a powder is considered better, it is because it is screened to a more consistent granule size. This normally will produce a better product whether this Gold is, I do not know. I used to shoot a lot of Pyrodex Select instead of Pyrodex RS. Again, a better screened product. It never shot any better, fowled any less, and I decided it was not worth the couple buck morea pound I was paying for it at the time.
If you get some Shocky Gold powder and test it, be sure and post your results. Some of the information people are putting out on powder, and projectile testing is really interesting.

RE: APP vs. Jim Shockey's Gold???
txhunter, Yes I did try some Shockey's Gold out a few weeks ago. I compared 3f loose Shockey's Gold to 2f loose 777. The Shockeys powder shot very well and was quite a bit cleaner(not nearly as clean as the magazine advertisements though). I did not chronograph the loads but the Shockey's Gold printed close enough to the 777 that I could hunt with it with out making a major scope adjustment.
If anyone is considering APP or Sockey's Gold I would definately recommend getting it in 3f. The 3f Shockey's was more course than my 2f triple seven, so I can only imagine how course the 2f Shockey's would be.
