Shootson (sp?) powder
Recently had a friend go to a blackpowder shop in Maine, and gave me a call seeing if I wanted some powder. I called the shop, and the guy there (sounded realy knowledgable), recommended Shootson Powder, in FFg. I ended up getting 3 lbs of it, in FFg, and 2 lbs in FFFg.
I gots myself a .50 cal T/C Hawken, as some of you already know (see previous posts) in caplock, and was wondering if anyone here has any experience with this powder. It is swiss made, and is supposedly more consistent and just as clean as Goex.
Any opinions?

RE: Shootson (sp?) powder
What you purchased is Schuetzen Black Powder. It is made in Germany and is an excellent brand of Black Powder. Some things to remember about Schuetzen is that it produces more pressure then Goex or Pyrodex type powders. It is in the same class as Swiss Powder and I think even made by the same company. If your rifle shoots 100 grains of Goex black powder then you would only want to load 85 grains of Schuetzen.
I shot some Schuetzen, a friend had many years ago. All I remember about it was the power was excellent, the ignition was excellent, and it did not fowl the rifle too bad as I remember. At the time we shot Goex and he somehow got his hands on some so of course we had to shoot it off.
Perhaps someone that has shot some off recently will be able to tell you more about it.
