Yes, it will have more arc to it than a lighter bullet but not enough to make it unusable.
I shoot the 50 cal460gr version over 90gr of 777 2f. MV is 1470fps and with a max point blank range sight in based on an 8" target I'm dead on at about 140 yards and down 4" at about 165 yards and down about 12" at 200.
The larger conical will drop a bit quicker but should still be good out to about 150 yards with more than enough energy to take an elk. Based on 1200fps MV it should have 1000+ FPE out past 300 yards. Sight it in dead on at 120 yards (+2.3" at 100) and it will be down about 6.5" at 150. +/- 4" out to about 140 yards. This is approximate and should be verified in your gun.

Personally, I'm not a big fan of HP bullets for elk but if your using a heavier one it should be just fine. I perfer the deep penetration of non HP bullets and the confidence they inspire when the shot placement is not quite right, like hitting bones. The 310 RN would probably be fine if it has enough "stuff" behind it. It all comes down to energy on target and shot placement.

RE: What CONICAL doese the most damage?
I have had great luck with a No Excuses 420gr. conical on top of 90 gr 3F Goex. I took a doe at 40 yds. this year standing quartering towards me. Bullet passed completely through taking out the near shoulder and both lungs on the way. Left a huge bloodtrail. The deer ran about 15 yds. and piled up.
I have had mixed results with my previous "favorite" conical, a 348 gr. HP powerbelt. I'm a firm believer in the large chunk of lead!

I also use the No Excuses 495 gr. with 100 gr. ffg in my TC Renegade. It will shoot three shots from a rest in 1.5 inches at 75 yards with open sights if I do my part. My Renegade has the double set triggers which helps. I amazed some of the guys that were shooting Knights with scopes at just 50 yards at the range one day. I bought this kit rifle from my friend for 125.00 years ago and it is my favorite rifle. He tried to blue it but it didnt take so I stripped it to bare metal and just keep it oiled. It gives it an old worn western look to it. It looks like an old sharps with all the blueing missing. His loss my gain. HeHe!!!

Sorry, never mind. I found it. Do you think this 535gr No Excuses would be good onLARGE mule deer or would it be too much? Another option would be a 310gr ballet. That is kind of my antelope bullet. I like how they come in boxes of 45 for $21.00! That is a great price. I will deffinately use it for elk!
