Default Another recovered bullet

Well I was able to recover a second 240 grain TC Mag Express from a deer this one was quartering twords me the shot took the front shoulder and spine the bullet was under the hide on the offside flank it mushroomed the way it should and measured .741 by.896 and still weighs 224 grains. I guess i'm still happy with their preformance.

Congrats on your success!!!! Nice bullet performance. Are they real accurate out of your rifle? I thought about using the 300 grain next year. I used the TC Cheap Shots this year and they amazed me on what they did for $3.99 per pack of 20 bullets. Excellent penetration all the way through and total vital trauma.

The Cheap Shots only come in 240 grain. They usually shoot almost identical to the 240 grain XTP's. You can get the XTP's in 300 grain. A pure lead projectile like a Cheap Shot only needs hit something hard and they flatten right out..

cayugad: I have a buddie that shoot the t/c cheap shots out of his t/c flinter 50 cal. the deer drop in there tracks.T/C cheap shot 240 grains are all soft lead and I think they have a HP nose also ,they seem to hold together pretty good for a HP design.

I meant I was going to try the 300 grain Mag Express bullets next year. Sorry, I should have been clearer. Arent the mag express bullets made with a heavier copper jacket toward the nose. Heavier than the xtp. I think Hornady has the regular xtp and the mag express in their line up. I believe only TC has the mag express now dont they? Here is what I saw on Cabelas. How do the 300 grain mag express shoot if you have tried them.

The PLAIN Hornady xtp is a 44 cal. bullet I think they use use a green plastic sabot to fit the 50 cal. bore and do have a greater ballistic coefficient
The xtp mag are .451 diameter and have a heavy core jacket compared to the regular XTP but the have a little less ballistic coefficient, which I could never understand.
I have found in my t/c the xtp mag are hard to load after the first shot in my sidelocks.I also use the hornady xtp mag in my 54 cal. thunderhawk .451 bullet drop into a 54 cal. harvester sabot that shoot oustanding

yes American Pioneerthe tc mag express with two 50 grain pyrodex pellets are accurate in my omega, with a 6x scope I can shoot groups less than an inch at 100 yards altho loading a second shot without swabing the barrel can be difficult.
