I understand the Buckhunter is a very nice BP handgun. I have not had the opportunity to shoot one yet though.

I picked up for a song a really nice and NIBPedersoli 50 cal Kentucky Caplock pistol. Really very accurate 1:18" riflingand nice handling. My first BP pistol. I will be hunting deer in the 25 yards range or lessthis season witha non-traditional250gr Hornady SST and 25gr Black Mag'3.

Pedersoli also has a long barrel version called the "Bounty" which looks like it would be an excellent hunter. 45 or 50 cal, 1:18" rifling and 16 5/16" barrel.

Otherwise T/C has an Encore pistol which is exceptional.

Traditions has the "Trapper & Kentucky"

Lyman also has the "Plains" sidelock pistols.

Roger46982,
I have a friend who hasa .50cal. Knight Hawkeye for sale. I don't know what he's asking for it, but if you're interested shoot me an e-mail and I'll hook you up with him.
Also I hada Traditions Buckhunter pistol and it shot very well.I had it for a short time and then upgraded to the T/C Encore 209X50 pistol. If I remember right an 80grs. chargewas maximum for the buckhunter pistol.....need to check into that for verification
