Default thanks to all

thank you guys. I took my rifle back to the range today and started burning powder my gun likes 80 grain it give me a 1 1/2 group at 100 yards. Later that afternoon i went to the woods and got set up and 30 min. later a button buck walked up. he is in the back of my truck right now. he didnt run 20 yards thanks again

Way to go!!! congratulations on the deer.

Also it sounds like you found the right load with those XTP's and 80 grains of powder. It sounds like you have a real good shooting rig there.

Did it blow through the deer with 80 grains? And how much damage did the bullet do internally? Only made 20 yards after being hit, you must have put that bullet just in about the perfect spot..

it didnt shoot threw the deer. the bullet was in the ribs on the other side. ill be making summer sausage soon. lol thanks again

Was it the 240s or 300s?

C'mon surprise me! Tell me they were the 180s?

it was the 240 jacketed hollow point. the bullet mushroomed nicely. looks almost the size of a quarter, maybe a little smaller

WOW.. you got excellent expansion out of the bullet. Just what it was supposed to do... I bet that did make a nice path through the deer. No wonder it never made much distance. Did that hit a rib going in too?
