WOW 30FT??? WAY TOO FAR UP FOR AN OLD MAN LOL
I USE A 15FT. LADDER STAND. I BELIEVE THATS HIGH
ENOUGH. I AM A FIRM BELIEVER IN USING A GOOD
COVER SENT. DOE PEE OR BUCKLURE I ALSO USE A
SCENT RAG ON A SMALL ROPE DRAG IT BEHIND ME
EVERY TIME IN & OUT OF STAND. I HAVE HAD DEER
LOOK UP AT ME, IF YOU HUNT WHITETAIL LONG
ENOUGH THERE WON'T BE ANYTHING THEY DO THAT
WILL SURPRISE YOU. GOOD LUCK GOD BLESS

RE: treestand: how high is enough ?
HiPower has it right on the nose. Do the string thing, works great. I have taken My second buck of the Year last Saturday morning at 6:30 AM. First was a 9 pt with a 13 inch spread, black powder Omega 50 cal. The second was a 10 pt with a 17 inch inside spread. Took the second one with a 308 BLR. 20 to 25 ft is ideal. Wash all clothing in scent free soap.Take a bath with scent free soap. Use scent free deoderant. Fresh jurkey and sausage will be Yours. And I know using a 308 is cheating, but I did hand load the ammo Myself.
