.209 conversion kit
I'm thinking of upgrading my Knight .50 from #11perc up to 209 primer. I see in the picat cabela's online catalog, the breech plug is different from the one I have now. Will I have to buy a different tool for removing it. Also it doesn't seem to have a nipple. With the 209, is the nipple + breech plug all one piece. These questions seem kinda dumb, but I really don't know. Thanks in advance for any replies.

The first thing I always wonder is, why do you feel the need to go to the 209 primer? I shoot a Knight Wolverine LK-II that uses a #11 primer and I would not change that for the world. The #11 cap is a lot more water proof then you might think. Also with the addition of 209 primers you then get into the crud ring problem with certain powders.

My buddy upgraded his wolverine and he is not really that happy with it. I has commented several times he liked the caps better. I was going to convert my my remington from musket caps to 209 and told me not to waste the money.

This is for what it's worth, I've upgraded both my MI-85s. I would say that if I had to I would go back to the #11 but, I LIKE the conversion I think its almost as neat as sliced bread, yeh just almost.

RE: .209 conversion kit
Today was a wet dreary damp day out. I wanted to test some Pinnacle 3f powder under those conditions. So I took my Wolverine LK-II. I figure the others have 209 ignition and would not be much of a test. The Wolverine has #11 caps. Well the little rifle fired off that powder just fine. I shot over thirty rounds through it and not one misfire. How much better could the 209 igniton do? I think the advantage of the 209 is for the pellet shooters. If your shooting loose powder, any of the ignition systems are usually just fine for setting it off.

I mostly upgraded because I lost my breach so I had some Cabelas points and had to buy a breach plug anyways so I thought I would just upgrade. I do like the fact they are easier to get one and off the nipplethan the caps.
