Default Cabelas Sporterized Hawken?

Well, I went to the new Cabela's in Salt Lake City this past week. I looked at spotting scopes and muzzle loaders. I really like the look and feel of the Cabela's Sporterized Hawken they have. I am wanting to get another one, and give my current gun to my dad so he can start practicing with it. I am thinking .54 would be nice, and would be just as good, if not better on elk, as my .50 was this year.

I just have a question on the quality of the gun. It seems to be very nice, and is made in Italy. Anyone have any comments on this particular firearm? Any help would be great, thanks.

P.S. - Don't want an inline, I like the sidelocks, besides can't see as far as they can shoot anyway.

Cabela's are made by Investarms. The same people that make Lyman Rifles. In fact when you look at a Lyman Trade Rifle and then the Cabela's Hawkins they are almost the same rifle. I have a .54 caliber Lyman Trade Rifle Flintlock. They are a great shooting rifle. You might also want to look into a Lyman Great Plains Hunter in .54 caliber. They have a 1-32 twist and would be a great conical shooter.

I have a cabelas Hawken,,I like it a lot. It shoots well with 80gr of Pyro RS and a patched round ball. It is a bit heavy compared to my inline knight. but not so heavy as other rifles i've carried. the only trouble is that the nipples for it are not readily availible in my area. I have to order them or drive way the heck out to the Bass Pro Shops to get the nipples that fit. Just buy two or three packages of them when you pick up the gun.

Any way I'm happy with mine hope you will be too.
