I was wondering if you guys could help me out with the ballistics of my load. I'm shooting the 250gr TC Shockwave pushed by 2 50gr pellets of 777 out of my Omega.I'd like to have an Idea of numbers. Right now its Dead on at 100 but would like to move that out to 150yds. I have three shot groups touching (usally shots 3,4,5) then from there it moves to a 4" group playing ring around the rosey of the bull.
Thanks.

"Right now its Dead on at 100 but would like to move that out to 150yds."
I took this as you wanting to zero at 150. If you sight in 3.25" high at 100 it should put you on at 150 and down 8" at 200, down 21.6 at 250. Calculated based on Cayugads numbers and the energy figures are the same. I use the 3"+/- 100 yard sight in for most of my guns/loads and find it gives a very respectable max point blank range for most combinations. For this example the max point blank range is about 175 yards.
Good luck.

Yes, I was trying to figure out what the most dead on or close to dead on range is for this setup. The last two years I've shot my deer from 10 to 50 ft. but passed up on the 125yd to 150yd shots. I'll let you guys know how I make out. Thanks again.

This is the ballistics read out of the 250 grain shockwave which starts at 1758 fps from the muzzle and is sighted in at 150 yards. As you can see for the real close shots you would be not too far off if you aimed dead center of the kill zone of the animal. Where you might have to keep in mind the ballistics is at 75 & 100 yard area where you might want to aim into the lower end of the kill zone because of the bullet rise... If people believe in the 600 fp of energy needed for a clean kill on a deer you can see that the bullet has a lot of power even at the longer ranges.
The real problem will boil down to how well you can shoot and hold groups at some of the extreme distances. I personally do not think a 125 yard shot is all that far but those that do the 200+ yard shots I am sure spend a great deal of time on the range before they would attempt such things. Also carry a set of shooting sticks, mount a bipod or have a blind with a good rest, it can make all the difference in the world.

They have many makes and styles. Some fold up, some you carry like a ski pole. I make my own out of Walnut or Oak and I have a couple Pine sets for shooting in the yard. I like the hardwoods more for hunting because I can varnish them and they hold up better. I have a short set for sitting on the ground, and a larger pair for my tree stand and ground blind....
I am sure there are others on the forum that have used the store bought kind and can give you a much better review then I can. I found the plan for the shooting sticks at http://www.prbullet.com/

I finnally slowed down enough to make it to the range. I shot 50 and 100yds. @ 50 I'm 2" high and 100 I'm 3" high So at 150 I should be just a little low. One thing I did change and it tightened up my groups to sub 3" was using the Remington Kleennore primers. I just did a single swab dry every shot. and if I didn't do it for 3 shots the gun shot 1" high at 100. Cleaned the bore with 2 patches and back to 3" it went. Now I'm off to the Turkey shoot at Addison, NY in the morning. I wanted to thank you again for saving me lots of time and money.

Did alright on the 100yd but they backed it up to 85 so I had to aim a bit lower than I thought and wasn't locking my arm in. As soon as I realized what I was doing then I just started breaking plates. They had a beach rest set up for 200yds. Shooting at milk jugs. It took 3 shots to figure windage (1 foot) and I tagged 2 on the 4th and 5th shot. What was neat is that is the first time I had tried a solid 200 yds that wasn't just a pop shot for giggles on the range.
