The WML209 was designed for use manly in the Savage muzzleloader shooting smokeless powder. Winchester does however make a Winchester 209 TripleSeven primer for use using black powder or substitutes. The WML209 is hotter for igniting the smokeless powder and should be used in guns designed for smokeless powder only.

Dave, Thanks for posting the information. I had not noticed this post before.
Lane, now I am really confused. The W209s have been availiable in 100 packs around here as long as I have been using them. I don't understand a different part # if they are the same.
