Default siting in a scope

If the bullets are hitting high of the bullseye do i want to turn the elevation adjustment knob on my scope in the direction of "up" or "down"?

I guess that depends on what your target range is and what you want your zero to be? For me I am never on the bull at 100 yards anywhere from 1-3" high depending on the gun and use.For my MlLs 1.5" high give methe trajectory for my hunting needs.

If you want to ring the bull, then down is the direction to go. Consult your owners manual to determine what each click ='s. Most are 1 click will equal approx 1/4" POI change at 100 yards. FYI if your scope is 1 click 1/4" andyou are shooting at 100 yards - 4 clicks will equal approx 1" of change in POI. If you are shooting at 50 yards - 8 clicks will equal approx. 1" of change in POI. 25 yards requires 16 clicks for approx. 1" of change in POI. ( I doubt your shooting 200 with the smokepole but it is 2 clicks to equal approx. 1" of change in POI).

Best of luck
