Default New Brunswick Bear Hunt - 4 vacancies to fill

Going to my usual bear hunt in New Brunswick, this is the first year I get the prime week... first week! I have it booked for 6 people. 4 of the people who were to fill the spots cannot make it due to military duties abroad and we need to fill the spaces.

The hunt: Bear, stands baited daily and the tree stands are easy to get in/out of quietly. Rifle or bow. 98% success rate. Prime bears, prime guiding service. Nicest people you'll ever meet. Greatest table spread & eating I've ever had, beats all the 5-star hotels I've ever been to hands down. You can hunt grouse, woodcock or waterfowl... or fish for Atlantic Salmon in the Miramichi (the camp is on the Miramichi) after you get your bear, or between hunts. Must purchase upland game/waterfowl/fishing tags separately. I am a NH F&G Hunter Ed instructor, the other person is a NH F&G Bow Ed instructor... both of us are delegates to GSB & officers in our club. Only top notch people of high calibre who are deadly with a bow under 40 yards (all the stands are closer than that)... or a rifle. Ok, now the nitty-gritty:

$990 for 6 nights/5 days of fishing and hunting. This includes:

* Includes meals, rooms & guides.
* $200 deposit per/person to Reserve. (already made the deposits, $200 goes to person who booked hunt)
* Spring fishing & other packages available.
* Also available river trips and wildlife photography.
* Access to 4 other rivers.
* Expert guide service.
* Fishing & water reading instructions.
* Fish and game dressing & storage.
* Transportation from and to the Airport.
* Fantastic scenery and a great view.

Bear tag is $60 additonal (total $1050). Small game & birds $50 for tag. Deer & game bird $90 for tag. Fishing license for 3-days (you're going to get your bear in the first few days) is $30 for two tags. This allows you also to keep 5 trout 7" or longer. Catch & release of 4 fish. Salmon "keepers" are 25" or less.

Email me at: [email protected] to inquire or register. These spots will be filled quickly, shouldn't you be the first to reply?

There are about 3 places open now. A person is going to hunt duck/geese/upland game and & fish the Miramichi/Cains instead of going for bear.

Oh man, I forgot the post the dates... the little details eh? Here are a few more clarifications on other questions I've been asked in email:

We arrive on Sunday, September 29th and leave on Friday, October 5th. The prices I quote are non-resident prices. Total for a bear hunt is $1050 and it is an all inclusive stay (room & board (3 exquisite meals a day)) with the exception of the other game/fishing licenses. If you bring a rifle or shotgun (assuming not everyone is going to bring a bow) I think it's about $35 USD on the Canadian side. Contact me so I can give the low-down on bringing firearms into Canada. If you have committed a felony (DUI, crime, etc), get a written pardon from your state government because Canada won't let you in. I guess their central government doesn't want any competition.

That's a lot of cash. I went to cheaptickets.com and they came up with a multiple carrier flight for $710. Input data was Sept 28 leaving anytime (the 29th flights were $1100), return on Oct 5th. There is a flight for $650, but you'll miss Joan's awesome breakfast Saturday morning. $710:

Depart 9:55 am Sat., Sep. 28 Salt Lake City (SLC)
Arrive 10:20 pm Sat., Sep. 28 Fredericton (YFC)
Stops: 2 Travel Time: 9 hr 25 min

Return 11:25 am Sat., Oct. 5 Fredericton (YFC)
Arrive 5:51 pm Sat., Oct. 5 Salt Lake City (SLC)
Stops: 2 Travel Time: 9 hr 26 min

Your friendly big game travel agent (HAHAHAHAHA!)

Looking for good deals on aifare go to Gorp.com

Click on airfare deals and check it out for the heck of it.

I just checked on a flight to Alaska and its 400 bucks cheaper than anyone else i could find. You might just want to check it out.

All spots for the first week are now long filled, but in doing so I've created 6 open spots the second week of October. It's a fairly long story, but I called the party we usually hunt with on 2nd week to join us first week instead... so Don (owner/guide) asked if I can find people to fill the slots I created on such short notice. The week is Oct 6 thru Oct 12. This is the second of the prime weeks. The two of us who went bear hunting on 2nd week last year both got our 300+ lb class bears... the person who put me onto the lodge has been going for 5+ years now and has harvested a bear 4 times thus far.

The hunt is your choice of bear (bow/rifle), deer (bow only), upland game, ducks, geese or fishing for Atlantic Salmon or trout on the world famous Miramichi/Cains river... or a combo (with purchase of appropriate tags of course). This lodge is 3 lodges up from the famous Ted William's camp. It isn't a marketed place like you see in teflon coated cover hunting magazines, but those "in the know" go to this lodge.

You're not fixed into any type of game, but the guide/host would like to know so he can plan accordingly. After I got my bear last year I headed down over the banking to the river (Miramichi). I'll set anyone up with the hunt if they want to go. Email me and I'll answer any questions you might have.

The hunt is over and it was a GREAT time! I didn't come home with a bear this year, although I did have a 350-400lb class bear at my stand the first day out. The short and skinny is that it tried to climb into the stand with me before it got halfway up and I scared it off. Oh well. There is always next year. I'll make sure I bring spare underwear to my stand with me. <img src=icon_smile_shock.gif border=0 align=middle> Actually, I'm just &quot;saving&quot; the bear for next year when it will be even BIGGER. Yeah yeah.. THAT'S it! <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>
A beautiful 275lb bear was harvested by &quot;jjt&quot; of hunting.net BigGameHunting forum fame who came in from Wyoming to join our party. A gene strain in that particular area of New Brunswick causes a white V on the chest. It's usually a thin line, but this animal in particular that he harvested has a huge solid white V. Beautiful animal! It was the boss in that part of the woods, but I'll let &quot;jjt&quot; tell his own story.
One of the other sportsmen in the group insisted upon wearing cover scent and I think it is one of the reasons why his bear never came all the way into his stand for a shot. I would assume an animal is going to put &quot;one and one together&quot; when he gets shot at by a poor archer or rifleman and there is always a certain 'aire' at the bait. Just my theory though.
