Well I hunt in NJ, just on the otherside of the Delaware River and I'm in the middle of great bear country. I see some great bears 300lbs and as much as 600lbs., some of these bears are roaming both NJ & PA. December 2003 NJ had there 1st bear hunt in over 30 years, on the last day I had my chance and took it, I took out a 200lb sow, not big but still a decent young sow. Bear numbers are up in NJ, NY & PA, esspecially along the border with NJ. PA has some huge bears. The day I took my bear I was at the check station with it, and a female hunter had a bear, it was 42lbs dressed, it made me sick to my stomach, I asked her what type of mount she was thinking of doin, she said after they butcher it, it will be tossed in the garbage.

Actually Pa has some of the biggest black bears in the world. I believe there were several over 700 lbs this years and one was killed illegally a few years back that went over 800.
But every state has a bonehead or two. 42 lbs is just a disgrace!
