RE: Antelope hunting gear?
I have been on nine pronghorn/muley hunts around Gillette, WY. Since 1991, I have seen all sorts of weather, from snow to icy rain to days so hot I hunted in shirtsleeves. Had snow flurries one morning and killed a rattler that afternoon! Just be ready for anything. Boots: lightweight, water proof, leather as someone else said to ward off cactus.
The 7mmRemMag sounds fine. I used that caliber on my first hunt out there and then went back to my .270Win. Longest shot that I made was 325yds in very mild cross wind. 130gr Hornady in the 270 and 140gr in the 7mmRemMag. If you are so far away that you need to hold over the animal, you are too far. My zero with the 270 is 2" high at 200yds. On the 325yd shot, I held a little high over the heart/lung area, but still on the animal.
