Default RE: Wha would you do? Elk scenario.

No, I would not take a 450 yard shot at any animal on the first day of a hunt, nor would I take it on the last day. Have we as hunters lost the art and the ability to stalk an animal? I just can't get excited in shooting an animal at that distance and get any kind of thrill. Big Deal!!! I think most of these lazy individuals need to learn the art of hunting/stalking the animal, that means studing its habits and doing some homework to enable you to get within range. At 450 yrds, you don't need to be so concerned with wind/scent, camo or even movement. So is this a hunt? Or just a long distance shooting match at the high risk of wounding an animal. If a person can't get any closer than 450 yards to an animal then he shouldn't even be out in the woods. At 450 yards, too much can effect the accruacy of a shot and another animal is wounded. I have never even been tempted or have had the need to take such a shot at a critter. I have to question some of these people whom have taken these shots and can truthfully answer in telling me how many animals they have wounded? I bet you have a higher % of wounded animals than I do?
So to answer your question, NO, I would NOT!!! Bobby[:@]
