RE: Who's ready for elk season?
I'm ready mentally always, physically not too bad. Am I practiced enough with my bow not yet. While i'm shooting good I like to be shooting as best I can and got all summer to get practiced up. I do the same when I rifle hunt and muzzleloader. I want to be on top of my game when it comes to shooting. But mentally I was ready somewhere around thanksgiving and christmas. I could do it everyday. But that wouldn't leave alot of animals on the hill. lol.

NO doubt, it will be a long wait...again. This seasons elk hunt for me will be unique, in that we will be on the last hunt of the season up in the Bob Marshall Wilderness, MT...end of November. This will be the FIRST whitetail rifle season that I miss in 33 years in my home state, due to the elk hunt being at the same time...but let's see, Hmmmmmmmmm, either I can be in God's country chasing late season elk in some deep snow, and looking for that big old rutting 30" mulie at the same time...OR be up at my hunting camp that I can do most of the fall at any time I want with my bow??? I would say a no brainer!! This will be a really fun hunt as I will be with a good friend who runs a camp up in Ontario and another well known WI guide (fishing). No doubt in good company, with good hunters, with a great guide in beautiful country. I say, bring it on :-)

If I get all my tags I should be hunting from the last week in August - the first week of November. I will be hunting elk with a bow, muzzleloader, rifle. Be hunting mule deer in October, hunting Bear in September. I think I should just stop working till December! I wish I could!
