wolf hunting
Gentleman,
For some time now i have been trying to get as much info on a WOLF hunt that i can find .Question , does anybody know of a reputable outfitter or has any body actually been on one of these hunts?I am up for almost anything, trap line hunt, stalk. Do they bait for them? Is most hunting by foot, snowmobile, or what? This forum has a lot of knowlegable people out there that i hope can really help.
Thank You

RE: wolf hunting
I can't find the brochure that I got from a friend that used this outfitter for huge deer in sask. they also love people to come and shoot the numerous wolves. He took 5 beautiful gray wolves with just the thickest coats on them. Try a search on wolf hunting in the area you want to hunt.

j3k2c1, you best not find that brochure wolf hunting is not legal in Saskatchewan for non residents. In fact it is only legal to Sask residents who have a fur/trapping license. I am not saying outfitter don't like the wolves thinned down but it is illegal for a Non-resident to pull the trigger and thus I know for a fact an outfitter that allowed a client to harvest and take the hide home wouldn't want it to be public knowledge It can be done however if the outfitter has a trapper license(claims he legally took the wolf (wolves), provides the export documents and pays the royalities on the fur. Still it is not legal.
Lapper, check into Altberta or BC they have wolf hunts available(legally).

Alaska has recently approved an aerial shooting of wolves fot population control in one area. I do not know if outfitters would be able to reduce the wolf population by conventional means in that area or not. The whole thing has met a lot of resistance by the usual cast of animal rights organizations and at the moment I don't know where it stands. I have been following the story in the Anchorage Daily News at www.adn.com If you care to follow up, I believe they have links/address/phone information for guides and outfitters in their sports or business section.
