Something Different: Tahr

RE: Something Different: Tahr
That trophy room of yours is going to be stretched to the seams.
Looking forward to seeing the completed mounts.
Always important to mount a Bull Tahr with plenty of shoulder included, so you can show off the mane. To me the mane is the trophy.
Have you been hunting lately?
I'm taking a guy bowhunting Tahr on foot (9th October.)
You will understand the challenge this presents.
We've picked spring, as the Bulls have split off on their own, and you don't have to stalk through pesky (And very alert) nannies.
Trout fishing starts here next week, so I've been preparing all my fly gear in anticipation.
We still have a lodge full of skiers. Skiing will finish middle October.

Yeah, the walls are getting a bit covered over. My capes for the frican critters should be back shortly, so I have to decide on my priorities of what to mount first of the 9. I'm leaning to the gemsbok, kudu and nyala, then will likely have the blue & black wildebeests done. I might a couple of the smaller ones (bushbuck, springbok, blesbok, impala) as pedestal mounts to conserve wall space. Right now, I just have all the skulls/horns scattered about.
I got shut out of the draw here in AZ for any of the fall hunts by going 0-5 species. So I have to hope some Texan adopts me and invites me to go there to kill a buck or something.
Are the tahr hides still in good shape in the spring, i.e. don't they shed like goats?
And how is the new bambino doing?
Not sure if you saw the pic of my bear mount that I recently got back, but here it is in all its glory. My taxidermist did an awesome job on the bear and the landscaping. I built the wooden base to match the other woodwork in the trophy room.

Yeah,
Same guy is also coming over for a Chamois and a Red Stag.
$6K for all three. That's a great deal.
Have been out glassing over the stags in the past week, have seen some real beauts. The velvet is just filling out up top, so can't judge the full length of the top tines yet, but they are looking very promising. Also seen two Elk that look like they may score 380-400 SCI.
