Default New Mexico Oryx

Here's a story for ya that has made me a believer in old "wives-tails". I was in Cali last week for my sons wedding and while shopping I looked down and found a dime and nickel sitting on heads so I picked them up and told my folks (who were with me) that my luck is gonna change due to them being on heads and we all laughed. That next morning I woke up and checked my email and low n behold I had one from New Mexico Game and Fish. I was drawn for a dang Oryx hunt on White Sands Missile Range!!!! I haven't drawn a thing in 3 or 4 years. Between that and the wife drawing a cow elk here in Oklahoma we should be set for the year in the freezer as long as we do our part lol. Needless to say I am on Cloud 9

Yea its the Wichita Mts (walk in) hunt. I've heard the cow hunts are actually a little harder than the bull hunts. Averages about 8 pts to draw a cow and that is what she had. A bull averages a ton of pts. I have over 20 and still cant draw. It is possible to draw with fewer since we don't have a true preference point system though I know of several folks that have been putting in for 40 years and have never drawn. It is also a once in a lifetime draw so whether you draw a cow or bull you can't put in again. Our pronghorn draw is the same way.
