Thank you CI and here you can quarter a moose and pack it out as long as you have proof of sex with you. Most areas is bulls only so the antlers are normally with it. But when you are beside a tar road it’s illegal to dress one out beside the road which would also include quartering. You can’t leave the mess there. I would have taken it onto a side road but being how late it was and at night I chose the back field. That made it easier to load back on with my atv being near by. I never got the exact weight because of the way this butcher weighed it up for me. He had the hide and everything off it before weighing it.. That saves me a quite a chunk of change which is always welcomed.. A lot of them charges the full hanging weight with hide and all with some charging $100 just to skin it. So this is working out good for me even though I had to travel around 80 miles to get it in a cooler and taken care of.. So I am guessing 650 pounds as the max. So it’s still a decent moose with very little damage considering a trailer truck had hit it. The damage was around the top of his hip and the back area where it all joined together. So I will loose some meat off the top of the hinds as well as a little loin and tenderloin. So basically I have just about a whole moose coming from it. I was really lucky on this one.
