I am always surprised at how quickly a big animal like that gets eaten round here.
We dine on venison about 3 times a week, and share a lot with friends.
My freezer supply is getting kind of low, so time I got out and did something about it. (Have a hunt planned for 1st December.) At the moment I am preoccupied with fishing.
It' s late spring/summer over here, and a great time to take a spiker for meat.
Our season is not limited to the fall i.e. we can hunt all year round.
This is because our deer numbers have been a bit out of control, and the government (Department of conservation) wants to keep the numbers down to minimise damage to the forest and mountains.
Right now the bulls/stags/bucks are in velvet, and the cows/hinds/does are calving/fawning. So quite a seasonal difference from your country.
