Elk Hunting
Need some help. I went mule deer hunting this past Oct. in Colorado, now I want to go elk hunting. What I would like to do is go back to Colorado for the Elk hunt because I can buy an over the counter license after the first season, want to go next year and hunt BLM land or National Forest. We got a chance to drive up into the Routt Nat' l Forest north of Craig and seemed like there was a lot of folks up there hunting.
Can anybody recommend a good place to hunt elk on either of these types of land.
I might add, we was hunting on private land for the mule deer and both of us got a mule deer, no monster but we were satisfied and loved the hunt. We had to put up with record breaking heat and a lot of hunters we met left early because of the heat. We' re from Georgia and the heat wasn' t a problem for us, just the mule deer.
Thanks,

RE: Elk Hunting
Lots of folks everwhere these days. I hunt 15 miles into the wilderness along the Continental Divide at 10,000 feet. Every year I' m amazed at the numbers of hunters I have to put up with that far back. What' s worser, some ain' t got the sense god gave a bull frog. This year we had ' em riding into the best bedding areas and spookin' all the game from near my camp.
