IDAHO has some decent over the counter hunts. but they probably are gonna take some work. to get away from people. 39 decent for rifle. 43 not bad archery. 33,34,35. not bad but limited tags, if you want one, you better get on it now.

some units are just a matter of buying tag. and then in may they have a controlled hunts drawing. that is no points system, just luck of the draw. some very good controlled hunts but not easy to get a bull tag, some are lucky enough to get em every couple years some wait for twenty. I , of coarse, am in latter group. cow tags are generally a bit easier to draw.

Pete gives some great advice. I love Colorado and have done well on OTC bull tags over the past 10 years. There are lots of elk and certainly lots of hunters. If the ATV's bother you and you don't mind hiking in focus on a wilderness area. From what I have seen there are elk almost everywhere. It isn't like hunting deer though. If you have seen muleys and speed goats on your previous hunts then that isn't the terrain I have hunted elk in.

Rob, I did not know that CI hunted with you . And I am definitely buying those mule deer PP again this year for Colorado to do a swap hunt with you when I have enough. Oh and after I win that power ball lottery tonight I will be taking a group on an all exclusive moose hunt and your invited.( My treat)
